Which is the best month to visit Cancun and why?

Any month is perfect to visit Cancun! Cancun is always a good idea.

Of course, during the spring and summer is the best time to get tan and enjoy the water activities, but if you’re like me autumn or winter is the perfect time. You can also enjoy warm and sunny days and a little fresh at nights.

Which is the most convenient and favoured transport of Cancun?

Definitely the bus is the best option, it’s cheap and perfect to explore the hotel zone. But also, a bike which you can rent, or some hotels have this service free for guests. If you want to visit some nearby places such as Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Morelos, Chichen Itza or more, the best option is ADO buses.

The ADO terminal of cancun is located a few minutes from the hotel zone and there you can take a bus to any of these destinations. The buses are comfortable and the price is low.

To visit Isla Mujeres located in front of Cancun, you must take a ferry. The trip and the view will be wonderful.

What are the top 3 must visit places in Cancun?

Isla Mujeres is a beautiful island with a marvelous turquoise sea and great water activities, such as: snorkeling, diving, fishing boat rides and the opportunity to explore the incredible Underwater Museum MUSA. The island is located in front of Cancun and you need to take a cool ferry boat to get there. If you want to stay there for a night or more, you’ll have many options, it just depends on your taste and budget. Isla Mujeres is considered one of the Magic Towns in Mexico. Don’t miss the opportunity to walk and explore the island, the houses and streets are charming and one of my favorite activities.

Nichupte Lagoon, a place you can’t miss, located in the hotel area next to shopping center La Isla. There are a lot of activities there: Skyrider, Boat Ride, Jungle Tour, Waverunners, Flyboard and more! Also, you can go shopping there and enjoy delicious Mexican Food at the restaurants.

Ecological Parks, a Cenotes Tour, or Archaeological Ruins : You’ll find a great variety of Eco-Parks at the Riviera Maya, those are protected natural places, created for the conservation of species and nature. Very different from each other and with amazing activities such as zip lines, swimming inside cenotes and natural caves, boat rides and a lot more. Some of them are: Xenotes, Xcaret, Rio Secreto, Akumal, Aktun Chen, Xel-Ha just to mention some.

About Cenotes, it’s hard to know how many Cenotes exist in Mexico, but thousands do. Cenotes Sac Actun and Dos Ojos are a beautiful example and recently it was discovered that both are connected, forming the largest Cenote in the world. Some of them are Gran Cenote, Il Kil, Siete Bocas, Chac Mool, Taj Mahal and much more.

Archaeological Sites, in my opinion all are fabulous, because you can learn and imagine the life there, when the places were important Mayan cities. But some of the most spectacular, Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Tulum, Kohunlich.

You have to visit at least one of them to love these majestic sites.

Which is the most celebrated holiday of the year in Cancun?

As in all Mexico, celebrations are very important.

My favourites are The Independence Day September 16th, you’ll enjoy fireworks, mariachis, folk dances and more.

The Day of the Dead November 2nd, where you can enjoy traditional altars and if you want, visit some cemetery to learn more about this unique tradition.

Which is the most happening area in Cancun and why?

For sure, walk at the long and beautiful beaches of Cancun, there you’ll find delicious food, beautiful sunrises and the best night, if you’re interested.

Where can one find amazing street food in Cancun?

In the hotels area you’ll find delicious tacos and some Mexican snacks. But if you want to get into the real Mexican street food, you should visit the Palapas Park. You can take the Bus R1 to get there, you’ll taste real Mexican snacks and food, like marquesitas, cochinita pibil, corns, churros and a lot more.

Where to head for affordable shopping?

If you’re looking for handicrafts and Mexican souvenirs, you can find them in the Handicraft Market, located in front of the Hard Rock at the Hotel Zone.

Otherwise, you can find Popular Brands in terms of clothing and accessories at La Isla Mall.

Which is the most loved local food in Cancun, both sweet and savoury?

It’s a very difficult question, because the gastronomy of Mexico is huge.

But la Cochinita Pibil with a pre-Hispanic origin, the dish consists of pork marinated in achiote. It should be prepared in a banana leaf and inside of a ground oven. It is usually served to make tacos, accompanied with habanero and purple onion.

And talking about sweet, Marquesitas. It is kind of a crepe, but rolled like a taco and filled with Edam cheese. It’s delicious, sweet but different and simply unique.

Which side of the road does Cancun drive on? Is it cycle friendly?

In Cancun, as in all Mexico, we drive on the right side of the road.

The Cancun boulevard at the Hotel zone is cycle friendly.

Would you recommend any popular local apps to tourists for transport, food and hidden gems in Cancun?

Smart Map Cancun, it is very useful to know exactly where are the places you’re looking for. Of course, TripAdvisor and if you need an app to translate, but I don’t think you’re going to need it.
